International competition of Vocal Art - Paris 2017

The competition is divided in two sections : the first section is dedicated to professional singers and takes place from 10 to 12 October 2017. The second section is dedicated to Amateurs of Vocal Art and takes place on from 9 to 12 october 2017.

The competition ends on October 13, 2017, by the Laureates' Gala.

The contest will be held in Paris.

Program

Section 1 : Professional Singers

Eliminatory phase: 10th & 11th of October

Finale : 12th of October

Opera Grand Prix and Role at the Cluj Napoca Opera (Romania)

Eliminatory phase:

  • A French Opera Aria
  • A Classical Opera Aria (free choice)
  • A melody by George Enescu (free choice)

Final :

  • A 20th Centrury Opera Aria
  • A melody by a contemporary French or Romanian composer (written in 1975 or later)

"George Enescu" Grand Prix

Eliminatory phase:

  • A melody by George Enescu (free choice)
  • A melody by a contemporary French or Romanian composer (written in 1975 or later)
  • An Opera Aria (free choice)

Final:

  • Another melody by Georges Enesco (free choice)
  • A 20th Century Opera Aria

Contemporary Melody Grand Prix

Eliminatory phase:

  • A melody by a contemporary French or Romanian composer (written in 1975 or later)
  • A melody by George Enescu (free choice)
  • A French Opera Aria or Melody written in the first half of the 20th Century

Final:

  • Another Melody by a contemporary French or Romanian composer
  • A 20th Century Opera Aria

SECTION 2 : AMATEURS OF VOCAL ART

Eliminatory phase : October 9th

  • A melody by George Enescu (free choice)
  • A French Opera Aria (free choice)
  • Final: October 12th

    • A melody by a contemporary French or Romanian composer (20th or 21st century)

  • Another Opera Aria (free choice)

Prizes and rewards

Young professionals section

  • Grand Prix Opera : 2000 euros, a concert and a role at the Romanian National Opera, Cluj Napoca
  • Georges Enesco Grand Prix : 1500 euros for the best interpretation of a George Enescu melody, awarded by the Romanian Cultural Institute
  • Contemporary Melody Grand Prix : 1500 euros for the best interpretation of a contemporary melody
  • "PAULA CIUCLEA" Special prize: 2000 euros for the best interpretation of a 20th Century Opera Aria (subject to availability of funding)

Amateurs of vocal art

The winner of the first prize will participate in a concert organized in either France or Romania, as well as in Master Class. The Master Class will take place in 2018 under the direction of Leontina Vaduva or Viorica Cortez

Registration fees


(Fees are payable by bank transfer by cheque, of which the information are given onto the registration's form.)
  • 75 euros for Professional Singers (120 euros for participation in two sections)
  • 50 euros for Amateurs of Vocal Art


Rules

  1. Age limit:
    • Section 1 : Young Professional Singers : 37 years
    • Section 2 : Vocal Arts' Amateurs : no age limit; restricted to non-professional singers with a passion for Vocal Arts.
  2. Registration fees are non-refundable.
  3. The candidates in the professional singers section may compete for one or two grand prizes.
  4. The running order list for the competition will be sorted alphabetically.
  5. The jury reserves the right not to award all the prizes as well as to interrupt the candidates during their performance.
  6. The maximum length of the performances for the professional section are as follow : One prize : 10 mins. Two prizes : 15 mins.
  7. The final of the competition will be public for both sections.
  8. The candidates must cover their own transportation and accommodation costs.
  9. pianist will be available for the candidates that are not accompanied by their own pianist. All rehearsals with the pianists will take place the day before the competition.
  10. It shall be compulsory for all laureates to participate in the concert.
